TGF-β Signaling

Transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) are a family of secreted polypeptide factors that regulate many aspects of adult tissue homeostasis and embryogenesis. TGF-β receptors are known to signal through the canonical SMAD pathway, which controls the expression of genes, and several non-canonical pathways that regulate various processes including cell polarity and microRNA maturation. The TGF-β family members are also involved in pathophysiological mechanisms that underlie many diseases.
