The Janus tyrosine kinase (JAK) and signal transducer and activator transcription family (STAT) are important components of cytokine receptor systems. They play a role in cell growth, survival, differentiation, and pathogen resistance. Interleukin 6 (IL-6) is known to activate the JAK/STAT signaling cascade. Dysregulation of the IL-6-mediated JAK/STAT signaling pathway is closely related to the development of diverse human solid tumors (e.g., colorectal cancer). Therefore, targeting this pathway may result in novel therapeutics for solid tumors.
