Cell Intrinsic Innate Immunity

This signaling pathway allows cells to detect molecular components from foreign antigens (e.g., viruses, bacteria). Once detected the innate immune system stimulates the production of various messenger signals including cytokines and interferons, which allow the immune system to respond and eliminate the infection.
