Injecting urate into local tissues or joints of C57BL/6JGpt mice causes the accumulation of urate crystals, which can effectively replicate acute gout-like symptoms in humans. These mice can be utilized as a suitable model for preclinical research of gout and anti-inflammatory medications.
Validation Data
1.Paw Swelling
Figure 1. Monosodium urate (MSU) was injected subcutaneously into the hind paw. Mouse paw thickness was monitored at multiple time points by a automatic gauge. The paw swelling was visible after MSU injection and reached the peak value at 8 hours. Data were presented as Mean±SD.
2.Paw Morphology
Figure 2. The shape of the right hind paw of the same mouse before MSU injection (left) and 24 hours after MSU injection (right). Significant swelling of the paw was observed after MSU injection, compared to the control group.
