Protein O-GlcNAcylation: A Sweet “Weep & Sweep” for Helminth Expulsion

August 30, 2022

O-GlcNAcylation is a post-translational modification controlled by O-GlcNAc transferase (OGT) and O-GlcNAcase (OGA). In a trophic and stress-responsive manner, these two enzymes regulate the dynamic O-GlcNAcylation cycle on a diverse group of membrane-bound, nuclear, and mitochondrial proteins. The metabolic sensor O-GlcNAc, capable of receiving and integrating signals from multiple signaling pathways, targets a variety of substrates with spatiotemporal precision for subcellular translocation. In this webinar, Professor Ruan will discuss his research on the role of O-GlcNAc in various biological systems, focusing on the interactions between metabolism and immunity.

  • Role of O-GlcNAc in the interplay between intestinal epithelium and gut microbiome.

  • O-GlcNAc’s role in type 2 immune response and immune function of regulatory T cells (Treg).
